Dip Slides - ACoP L8 & Microbiological Monitoring

Dip Slides - The UK’s Health and Safety Executives (HSE) Approved Code of Practice and Guidance (ACoP) "Legionnaires' disease: Control of legionella bacteria in water systems" (L8) recommends the use of dip slides for microbiological monitoring of wet cooling systems.

Frequency of Testing

The ACoP L8 recommends that microbiological tests using dipslides should be performed on a weekly basis. Testing at monthly or longer intervals is not sufficient to identify rapid changes in microbiological growth that can occur, particularly during the late spring to early autumn period, when temperature conditions are most favourable to the growth of legionella bacteria.
